Biography

Omar M. Saad completed his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport (AASTMT) in Alexandria, Egypt, in 2012 and 2015, respectively. He earned his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the Egypt Japan University of Science and Technology (EJUST), Egypt, in 2018. Previously, Omar was a researcher at the National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG) in Egypt, and he also served as a Postdoctoral researcher at the School of Earth Sciences at Zhejiang University, China. Recently, Omar has taken on the role of a research scientist at KAUST. His primary focus centers on machine learning applications in seismology, encompassing earthquake forecasting, earthquake early warning systems, denoising, interpolation, estimation of earthquake magnitude and location, full wave inversion (FWI), compression, microseismicity, and distributed acoustic sensing (DAS).

Research Interests

Omar M. Saad's research interests lie at the intriguing intersection of artificial intelligence (AI) and seismology. With a focus on leveraging advanced AI algorithms, his work aims to revolutionize seismic event detection and picking, earthquake forecasting, earthquake early warning systems, denoising, interpolation, estimation of earthquake magnitude and location, full wave inversion (FWI), compression, microseismicity , and distributed acoustic sensing (DAS).
