DeepWave Consortium - Update

07 November, 2022

[Ever wondered about the green and white cubes outside Building 1?]. The DeepWave Consortium is celebrating three years of exciting research!

DeepWave is an industry-funded research consortium at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), focused on applying machine (deep) learning numerical algorithms to wave-equation-based processing, imaging, and inversion. These techniques support a wide range of objectives—from global Earth discovery and natural resource exploration to subsurface monitoring, non-destructive testing, and medical imaging.

The team includes 20 members based at KAUST and is supported by 14 international sponsors from the energy sector, spanning four continents.

After hosting three mid-year meetings at KAUST and two annual meetings in the USA, we’re gearing up for our third Annual Meeting, which will be held in Houston later this year. This event is where we’ll share our latest research with sponsors and set the stage for future collaboration.
